Question by DaDiscoRanger: Will singing small bits of a song in a video result in a copyright strike?
Like you’re doing a collab commentary then your friends like “Its like im living a TEEN AGE DREAM ect” Will that really result in a copyright strike?

Yes, in theory the composer of the song owns the copyright of the tune and the lyrics and the producer of any recording owns the copyright of that recording, subject to the rights of the composer.
To create, record and distribute a “cover” of a copyrighted composition you would need a license.
17 USC 115
No,the law is if you copy or maliciously edit (when i say maliciously edit meens like change the song just to sell for commercial purposes etc. singing a song is OK
No, I wouldn’t think so. I think you can only get a copyright strike if you’re playing the actual song. I mean, to be a youtube partner, you can’t have copyright strikes, and there are youtube partners who sing song covers for their channel.
