What to do for Uhaul when you get into an accident, without insurance?

Question by PlayinDaGame: What to do for Uhaul when you get into an accident, without insurance?
I work for a wedding company. We are just starting off as a company and we rent out Uhaul trucks and vans, but my boss doesn’t get the insurance part of the bill. Even when they ask “Do you want insurance?” My boss says “no” which just means we have to drive carefully. But say while I’m driving I get into a huge accident whether it be my fault or the other person. What do I do in that case? (Hence, having no insurance). Thanks!

    You don’t do nuffin.

You won’t have no insurance driving a UHaul rental, you just won’t have collision insurance. That means whoever is on the contract as the renter will be 100% responsible for all damage incurred, no exceptions. If your boss declined the optional insurance (the stuff you need by law is always included), it’s his problem and his alone. His decision, his company, his problem.

You might get a ticket if you broke a traffic law, but the accident is entirely on whoever rented the vehicle no matter who caused the damage. Unless it’s your name on the rental contract, you’re not responsible for anything.

Refuse to drive the U-Haul trucks and vans because YOU are the driver and YOU will be responsible if you have an accident. Make sure you are covered with insurance because you can lose your drivers license for driving a vehicle that doesn’t have insurance. You have a very stupid boss.

Your boss would be liable for any damages or injuries. Your boss is being cheap and the likelihood of being involved in a collision is better than not being in one.

  4. SA says:

then your boss would be responsible for damages to the trucks the insurance protects you from liability costs
