Sue my employer. Do i have a case?

Question by Crystal W: Sue my employer. Do i have a case?
well, i worked for dollar general and my two managers manager and assistant that trained me told me to markdown items that are considered damaged that the customer still wishes to purchase at a 50% off discount.. these discounts were also to be given to employees. i did.
over 6 months i too took advantage of the mardowns buying about $ 25 worth of merchandise $ 50 retail but $ 25 with the 50% off markdown that we gave.
nothing was said that it was against policy. those were my instructions from two different managers
then we got our new manager and he called a mandatory meeting about markdowns and said it was stealing.. we were all surprised. So, after that, i didnt recieve any more markdowns nor give them
oct 12 after 6 months of employment, two weeks after i showed them my proof of pregnancy, i was fired for theft “unauthorized markdowns” of $ 25 worth of merchandise
okay, i go to apply for cvs and a $ 50 theft is on my background
they did not take me to court so i dont see how this is on my background
its ruining my job opportunities
ALSO. the manager is now a district mgr. and the asst manager is now a store manager. they didnt get fired.
and they also recieved markdowns as well as taught us to give them
im supposed to owe a law firm in orlando $ 500 for my $ 25 “theft”

A MONTH LATER AT 3.5 MONTHS I HAD A MISCARRIAGE. Probable cause: Stress.

If you want to sue them, you should exhaust all options for resolving the problem and keep records on that. I’ll help you get them. I’m not an attorney, but I know how to drive people crazy and get results. Send me an email. I feel up to destroying somebody’s life for this.

You have no case. Your employer does not need a reason for firing, not even if you were a long term employee. As it is this is not ‘on your record’. The employer can legally tell a prospective employer anything that they want, provided it is true. Since you did not contest the firing AT THE TIME, they have a right to tell the new employer your reason for firing.

For the record, no doctor will state on the record that a miscarriage is caused by ‘stress’, since that is not a medical diagnosis. A miscarriage is sad, but the vast majority are caused by either problems with the fetus itself or a problems with the mother’s ability to support the child. Outside influences cannot be positively identified as a cause.

Can you prove that they gave these instructions to other people?

If you can, I’d sue the SNOT out of them. Including the issue about your miscarriage – I’m so sorry for your loss.

I say go for it. The main thing I would fight is that on your background. That is WRONG. Call a lawyer and ask them if you have a case. Theyll be blunt with you. Good luck!

Got something to say? Go for it!
