Question by mama x 3: I dyed my hair a medium copper brown. What dye can I use to get rid of the reddish tones?
5 months ago I dyed my hair a burgundy red color (don’t know what got into me). It faded pretty quick though and I decided to start using a medium copper brown instead. Okay, so that was fine for the next few months, but now I’m tired of it and I would like to go back to a brown without the reddish tones. What color (off the shelf) can I put on it to “cover” the red? Or would I be better off just letting it grow? I don’t want to process my hair again unless I know that dyeing it brown will take out the reddish tint.

You want to stay away from Warm tones, go with a Neutral or Cool tone brown. Most of the time it should say on the box what category it falls in. Warm colors bring out reddish tones.
If you are putting permanent hair colours into your hair, which it sounds like you are, then I would first put a deep conditioning treatment in it and perhaps get a trim before putting another colour on top of the last one.
If it was five months ago, that’s fine, most people colour their hair every 2-3 months.
