is religion the best business model ever made?

Question by Jamais Vu: is religion the best business model ever made?
Religion sells “faith”.
the cost of this faith is periodic offerings and rituals; your time and your opinions
by investing in this “faith”, Religion guarantees life after death, a sort of “death insurance”.

so far religion has been 100% successful, in that no one who has died has come back and claimed FRAUD on their guaranteed death insurance…. what a smart business tactic! promising things to people after they die…

in conlusion, Islam and Christianity are the REAL corporate conglomerates of the world, buying and selling your innocent minds to gain political power and world domination………..or something like that.

Oui, Jamais Vu, you are absolutely correct. Give money to the church (mosque, temple etc.) give to the Catholic hospital, give to the Jewish school and keep yourself out of hell. Don’t disagree with religious leaders and guarantee your place in heaven.. If you are a woman, obey your father or husband, to avoid damnation.

Religion began as a means of controlling people, and over time, turned into a commercial endeavor. This is (and really, I have a LOT of reasons) my number 1 reason for not “buying into” man-made religion. Today’s religions are a disgrace to my faith, and disgust me to no end, with people selling squares of cloth that have been “blessed” for $ 20 plus shipping and handling, and guys on the Hallalujah! channel wearing Armani suits and Rolex watches, asking people for donations, and telling them that God will reward them for their generosity. Jesus threw the money changers out of the temple…wonder what he’d think of THESE guys?

Yes it is one of the best if not the best business models ever created. Not only in terms of longevity but when we compare the profits to the cost it is almost criminal (in fact some religious institutions liek the Catholic Church are criminal in history for starting those wars and suffering. They still were recently doing this by in promoting non-condom use in the MIDDLE OF AIDs crisis in Africa!). Religion hardly sells anything worthwhile especially in terms of true spirituality and poisons the mind with thoughts of delusion and grandeur. The cost of building places of worship are often funded (partially) by the government, and churches can make HUGE amounts of money (just look at the rampant Evangelical movement down in the States). Who said you can’t make huge amounts of money off selling an invisible product lol?

It’s pretty brilliant. Religions take in billions of dollars by convincing ignorant people that ancient mythology is real through fear and guilt.
