I just hit a kid with my car, what else can I do?

Question by : I just hit a kid with my car, what else can I do?
He was on his bike next to his brother. I did not even see them at the intersection. My light was green to turn left. So I began to twist the wheel let go of the brake while looking right and straight ahead looked left and before I could think I hit them. Looked behind me the cars had already went around me and I reversed. The little boy was my sons age and I freaked out started balling and called the ambulance and the cops. The older brother called his mother while I was on my phone with 911. They came and said he was fine. I had just ran over the tire and dropped them both off the bike. All they asked is If I had Insurance. I do. I could hear the mom talking on the phone with the dad saying “she better have insurance”. The mom told the cops that today was the 2nd day riding the bike with his brother. She then told me it was the first day. The older brother swore he looked both ways . But I know I did not see them. I think he did not look at the lights. Or had trouble stopping with his little brother on the the bike. Gave the mom my number. I plan on fixing the bike. But the little boys were fine and walked off smiling and playing with the police officers. She then said he might be hurting later I said yeah I know he might be sore. I said I was so sorry, still crying. You think they can sue ? I mean I will do whatever they want but don’t take advantage..trust me I’m totally Sorry for hitting them ..but one second there is no one at the intersection and the next they are at my car..There is a huge campaign poster at that intersection. Man I was shaking. I keep thinking why didn’t I see them what happened over and over. I called my Insurance already. I gave her my number. what else can I do??

What do you think? Answer below!

not many lawyers would take their case to be honest, other than medical, there isnt an issue.now i can tell you that dont even mean their wont be a suit.my ex wife has had no contact with my children for 10 yrs.my daughters were in a wreck.my oldest was hurt pretty seriously, and my baby was killed.the ex wife filed a wrongful death case.she even went as low as getting a copy of my burial reciept to provide her lawyer with.now knowing this lawyer is even trying to do this says he;s a crook.anyway, glad i had help finding a lawyer that works with madd.

Your mistake was to take any form of fault or liability. When you said you’re sorry and start to be apologetic it can be misconstrued as taking fault. You don’t have to give your number to her or call her just go through your insurance. They will handle all the details from there if the mother decides her child is injuried and files for bodily injury claims. You called your insurance and reported the incident so your fine and they will hande it .

If the mother tries to sue, counter sue stating the kids, riding unsupervised, rode through an intersection and damaged your car. Parents need to teach their kids the rules of the road before letting them ride in traffic.

  4. JERR-EEE says:

buy the kids a milkshake, and give the mom a hug. Try to get friendly with these people, and constantly show compassion to these kids
