YEAH, THE MOB RUNS THAT “MILITARY” SCHOOL BROOKLYN.

Actually, I would not try to fix most modern cars in most combat conditions because so many systems on most cars are so easily utterly destroyed by bullets these days, in ways one cannot hope to fix. And there are several anti-theft devices out there that could easily ruin your day.

Between combat situations, yes. In combat? Not likely.

If a team is sent into a place with cars, and those cars are required as part of an escape or cover for an op. then yes, plans will be made to educate the soldiers in stealing a nice, healthy automobile.

But more likely the team will bring their own transport if needed, because of the potential that other transport will be sabotaged, or mined.

Even commercial gear available to you and the rest of the greneral public can be employed as theft prevention devices. Some of these devices disable a car at a set distance from the home, lock the doors automatically AND call the police. Thus a theif gets out of the garage before the car ius disabled ~ and is liss likely to kick the crap out of the owner for foiling his evil plans to subsidize his drug abuse.

That which is greatv for the home owner however would not be good for your average black ops team or even the average soldier trying to take a car for a joyride in combat. These systems are deliberately designed to be very hard to defeat, of course.

There are worse cases of booby trapping too. In some countries it’s legal to equip a car with a flame thrower to burn a potential theif.

In those countries one REALY ASKS DAD NICELY FOR THE CAR KEYS.

But soldiers seldom seem to be able to ask nicely enough, so they bring it on (with them) or walk.

Good boots in the Army. But change your socks often enough, and get the boots in two different sizes ~ one for swelled feet, one for “mourning fresh feet”. Pack both for any given day. Change once, quickly, while “covered” by others.

I figure fixing a car would be at the bottom of the list for everything a Special Forces Engineer would be capable of.
From building bases ,to bridges, blowing-up both and setting-up base camps perimeters etc.

You’d have to find one and ask…. they don’t give out many specifics about what is and is not taught in their training. Suffice it to say… they’re taught how to think on their feet, and solve any kind of problem they could possibly encounter. Even if a given scenario isn’t specifically taught, they learn alternative ways of looking at problems, and finding solutions to problems no one ever thinks to teach.

Besides, the kind of people who get picked for SF selection have a wide skill set to begin with. The kind of bad***es that pass through selection were probably gearheads and jocks before they ever put on a uniform.

  4. bimmer says:

no, but if you are a special forces engineer, you would already know how to fix a car…

  5. Kindeyes says:

they are a different kind of engineer. I do not think the US Special Forces has any engineers.

  6. Joe says:

no, but usually they could hotwire one if needed

Got something to say? Go for it!
