Well – he doesn’t travel the world – but in ‘Water for Elephants’ by Sara Gruen. The protagonist, Jacob, leaves behind his hometown and joins a traveling circus during the 1930′s. It’s a very entertaining read – not very glamorous at all as you may expect with a story involving the circus.
