did you never listen to your parents?, an apple tree will grow inside your stomach!! I’m pretty rubbish with plants though that must be why after 24yrs not one has grown. i have developed typing b*llacks as a result though.

  2. LEE G says:

Yes it is but you might get a small tree growing out of your ears but i,m told its nothing to worry about.

  3. Debi says:

The pips contain cyanide but it’s in such a small amount that you’d probably have to eat about a ton of pips in a day to have any ill effects.
My mother always eats them and she’s about 80.

  4. charmayne t says:

    Yeah its safe
I used to know a boy who used to eat the whole thing too.
    Nothing ever happened to him.

  5. IAN F says:

My girlfriend is german and she always eats eats apples from end to end, Pips and core. Her doctor told her the core of an apple is where all the nutriants are.

  6. executioner_bolan says:

One or two isn`t a major problem but there is a very small amount of arsenic in apple pips so eating an excess isn`t advisable.

  7. Amanda says:

    I do with no problems

  8. pooterpet says:

it’s fine, mostly they will pass straight through you cos that is how the plant has formed them, so the apple gets eaten and the seeds get spread around!!
i think they are pretty bitter if you chew them so i don’t!!!

  9. Libby says:

Well does your husband have an trees growing out from anywhere? lol. My mum used to say that eating pips were dangerous because it caused appendicitis- but then she said a lot of things- i can’t see that it will hurt- you eat bigger things than that.

  10. Rosie says:

I wouldn’t eat the core because I don’t enjoy it. The old wives’ tales are either it gives you appendicitis or you grow and apple tree in your stomach!

  11. melroc says:

i use to do it when i was younger and im ok !!!! my dad always told me that if i ate it all i would have an apple tree growing out of my bum hahahahhaha i still ate them anyway

When I was 15 or 16 (long time ago) I used to do lot of exercise, wrestling, weight-lifting and body building. Every evening before going to bed my mum used to drop 5/6 apple pips in an earthen jar. In the morning she used to shake it heavily adding up with sugar, you can use shaker for the purpose. I remember it was turning into a thick clear juice which I was drinking regularly with my breakfast before going to school. Later I asked a doctor, he told me that due to heavy exercises every body builds up extra heat which is some times dangerous if the body gets overheated. This juice helps keeping the body and mind cool and discharges the extra heat through urine. This way you keep your temper under control, away from fights, arguments and troubles. Believe me, it tastes so pleasant, clear, refreshing and energetic with full of vitamins with apple flavour. Just drink it and throw away the left over pips on the bottom. You can even collect and save these seeds, these wont die for months, when you like you can use.Try it, you will like it. Now I understand my mum was very clever, she wanted me to study hard and not run after girls as I was well-built and I was just reaching that age. May God bless her soul.

absolutley safe to eat pips from an apple, they are only seeds, if you bought seeds seperate to eat you pay more than just eating them from an apple, good on him!

  16. alan h says:

    It is perfectly safe.
The human metabolism can quite easily digest whole apple: pips, skin and (thouigh not many would want to) stalk, too.

    However you eat it: enjoy!!

  17. ANDREW G says:

Yes it is.Within reason. However if you eat too many,it could give you severe stomach cramp.I believe we are talking in terms of over 200 apple pips, and that would be a lot of apples. Also apple seeds (pips)contain arsenic. That is why not too many is alright, but excessively could cause problems.

  18. isle says:

your husband must have loads of little apple trees growing in his stomach

  19. ScientistX says:

I eat the whole apple! You get the most energy from it that way! Also the arsenic it is so very small when I say small I mean low nanogram probably range thats

0.000000001grams or so not to worry Im still alive :-)

  20. Physics-Student says:

So do I. I don’t like wasting anything! No problem at all. Pips generally increase intelligence!!

  21. bevalou says:

I would think that if you want to eat it then do, coz if the pips are not digested they will find their way out of your system! ( I remember when i was a little girl my big brother told me that if you ate the pips an apple tree would grow inside your tummy………..always one for a challenge i tried it, and nothing happened!!! :) ) Ooops, just noticed someone said almost the same as me…never mind!

  22. frank S says:

i wondered what that twig was sticking out of my ass.

  23. Little Miss Helellena says:

hehe when i was little my mummy told me that if i ate the pips an apple tree would grow in my tummy… hehe i’m sure this won’t happen…because the stomach acid and all your enzymes will break down the pip, and if it’s unable to be broken down, it’ll just pass through normally…:)

  24. alan d says:

Only if you want legs like tree trunks!

Seriously though…Yes! it’s OK to eat the pips but remember, they contain arsnic, but only a small dose.

  30. chelle0980 says:

I don’t think that they can cause any harm, but my mum always told me as a child that if you eat the pips then an apple tree will grow in your belly! She was a great mum!

  31. heart breaker says:

Yes, it is ok to eat the whole apple.
However, there is one recorded incident of a man who had a particular fondness for the seeds and saved up a whole cup of them to eat all at once. He died.

  32. Dollypants says:

yeah it is fine but watch out in case some branches grow out of his nose or bottom…..my mum always said if i ate the pips an apple tree would grow in my tummy!!

If you don’t eat the apple core – throw it out for the birds. My blackbird family love almost any fruit waste.

  34. pilgrimspadre says:

    Hi!

Despite being told by my mum that an apple tree would grow in my belly if I ate the pips, I’ve eaten the whole apple (minus the stalk) from childhood. The pips are the best tasting part. I also love the nut inside peach stones.

While working with great apes, I had to eat unpeeled bananas so that the young would not imitate my peeling and lose a valuable source of roughage. I do not eat banana peel now.

Some people sense nutrient sources they need (like expectant mothers “cravings”) and it may be that you don’t need the core elements while hubby does. Hope it doesn’t get on your pip watching him devour an apple ;-)

    Good wishes.

  35. agonyaunt says:

Ofcourse it is ok to, I eat the whole apple too, well as long as the apple tastes good!
    Take care :)

  36. X_Angie_p_X says:

Hey don’t shout too loud about it, They may pass a law to say it’s illegal or not politically correct to eat the whole of your Apple…….Because someone somewhere my just get a little offended…lol

But hey i wouldn’t worry about hm eating the lot, what he don’t digest will just come out the other end..But if he starts getting an itchy backside, the pip’s might have taken root..lol.

  37. monkeymanelvis says:

The whole thing is okay, it’s just that the core is very tough and is mostly cellulose which is non-digestible fibre so there is no great benefit to eating the core.
I don’t eat the core myself because the texture is unpleasant and tough.

  38. noname says:

they contain arsenic, so your husband will mythridathize against this poison, it’s fine. I have always eat them, so in case your husband feels lonely for this reason, tell him he’s not!

p.s.: it’s VERY worst to eat the skin of the apples: unless they are organically grown, it contains large amounts of pesticides, since apple trees are very delicate and “need” them

  39. gozaine says:

I eat the whole apple without leaving the core. I’ve been doing it for nearly 30 years and so far I have not noticed any adverse side effects.

  40. mumof4 says:

I believe it`s fine. I too eat the whole core as do some of my friends. Hasn`t done us any harm. Surely it`s no different to eating pumpkin seeds or sunflower seeds or even tomato pips. It`s just a matter of personal taste.

  41. teala says:

Yes. Your husband’s right, you can eat the lot.

  42. startthisover says:

It is true that the seeds contain arsenic, but also, eating the seeds of your fruit can help reduce the risk of cancer. They have vitamin B17 that is really good for that. I eat the whole thing, too!

  43. stone_angel11 says:

not to sure on that one hunny, lol. it is rather weird bless him. I’ve never heard of any body eating the whole apple before, lol. if he starts sprouting leaves out of his ears id start to panic, lol. take care sweety xx

  44. dels replies says:

I am like you. I eat the skin and the flesh but leave the pips and core. Obviously eating the pips does not harm you, but I suppose it’s what your used to .Same as when using apples in a tart or pie it is usual to discard the pips and core before cooking..They even make corers to use before baking apples in the oven.It would appear that it is more usual not to eat the pips.

  45. Little Bo Peep says:

If you eat apple pips one day a tree will grow out of your head………

  46. walnut says:

it is scientifically proven that there is a 50% chance that you might grow a plant in your stomache so i suggest you not to

  47. jo h says:

i dont as old wives tale said get stuck in ur appendix so never did but still had appendix out lol

  48. ben_m_g says:

Yes its fine the pips do contain cianide, but the levels are so low that there should be any ill-effects.

  49. george_graham_crayford says:

they actually contain arsenic (so goes the wives tail) but the human gut Cannot digest them so hell just pass them, dont worry about it =P
if people died from eating apple cores youd know, they been around a few thousand years

Got something to say? Go for it!
